When applying to a juried program (Artist Development or Juried Sound Recording), you are required to submit one assessment track for the Artist Development program and two assessment tracks for the Juried Sound Recording program. Your assessment tracks will be scored on the quality of the overall song, the vocals and lyrics (or dynamics and emotional impact for instrumental tracks), and musicality. Your assessment track should be a new, recently recorded, original song or composition that has never been commercially released at the time of application. It must meet MAPL requirements for Canadian content and not be in French/have primarily French lyrics. It should be the best representation of your sound.
While you are not scored on the quality of the recording, it is advisable to submit as polished a track as possible so that the jury were able to hear it better and score it properly.
