Notifications about the results of FACTOR Annual Profile Review have been sent out to clients. You can log in to the Portal at www.factor.ca to view your artist rating and/or applicant rating. The next profile review will be the Semi-Annual Review on August 31, 2016.
New artist ratings will remain valid until September 30, 2016. New company applicant ratings will remain valid until March 31, 2017.
FACTOR artist ratings are based on how well the artist scored in each of the qualifying criteria detailed in the artist profile. These ratings are very competitive: roughly 95% of all artists are rated General. The number of artist profiles with a rating of 2 or 3 is very limited, and the artists who have these ratings change after every review deadline. It’s common for Artist 2s and Artist 3s drop to lower artist ratings if they do not sustain the momentum of their successes between profile reviews. This allows artists who previously held lower ratings to increase their rating as their career momentum builds.
FACTOR’s most popular programs are available to all artists with a General rating: Artist Development, Juried Sound Recording, the Showcase component of Live Performance, and Marketing & Promotion for Non-FACTOR-funded Sound Recordings.
Scroll to the bottom of our Profiles & Ratings for Artists page to view sample qualifying criteria scores for the lowest scoring Artist 2 and Artist 3s. It’s important to remember that these are not thresholds. The data is provided for comparative purposes only. If your qualifying criteria data are within the range of the values listed, you can get in touch with your Project Coordinator to discuss how you might be able to increase your rating, and what areas of your profile you should pay extra attention before the next profile review.
Clients with questions about their music company rating are advised to contact their Project Coordinator.
