In an effort to spread the word about FACTOR and reach out to the artist community the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings (FACTOR) will be heading to Alberta the first weekend in October!
With support from radio broadcasters in both provinces, FACTOR will be hosting an interactive 6 hour Musicians Workshop in Edmonton and Calgary.

10:00am - 12:00pm - The Money FACTOR
Forget the hearsay and second hand scoop on FACTOR and hear it from the horse’s mouth!
For over 26 years, FACTOR has been supporting Canadian musical talent with money for touring, showcasing and marketing and recording albums. Get information on over 23 funding programs and their new seminar series. This session will be as interactive as you want it to be so, have your questions ready and get the answers you need to take the next step at getting your hands on some money!
12:30pm - 1:00pm - Meet the Alberta Music Industry Association
Find out more about AMIA, the benefits of becoming a member and how they can work with you to provide you with resources necessary to take your musical career to the next level.
1:00pm - 2:30pm - The Creative Critique
Hear what some industry professionals have to say about your music!
Submit one copy of your demo and 5 copies of your lyrics between 10:00 am and 12:00pm for a chance to have your music played, heard and critiqued. Submissions are anonymous and are chosen at random. Please be advised that due to limited time, not every demo will be played. All submissions must be accompanied with lyrics. If there are no lyrics, chances are, your demo will not be played.
2:30pm - 4:00pm - FACTOR Open Mic
Between 10:00am and 12:00pm, register for the FACTOR Open Mic and have the opportunity to perform live in front of your peers! Performances will be acoustic and are based on a "first come, first serve" basis. To be fair to all artists wishing to perform we request that you only sign-up for yourself or one other artist. Multiple sign-ups cannot be accepted.
Due to time constraints each artist will be initially permitted to play one song up to a maximum of four minutes long. We will try to get through all of the artists who signed up however due to the lack of time, this may not be possible.
